We are looking for an experienced Controller who brings respect, empathy, and kindness to our patients. This individual will provide financial leadership and operational excellence for Active Path Mental Health. The role is responsible for managing the organization’s revenue collections, finance and accounting operations, internal controls, and compliance, with an emphasis on healthcare administration. The Controller ensures the integrity of financial reporting, optimizes revenue cycle processes, supports budgeting and forecasting, and partners with leadership to advance sustainable growth in alignment with our mission and values.
You will be responsible for:
- Financial Oversight:
- Overseeing all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Providing monthly variance analysis and financial forecasts to leadership.
- Leading the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and revenue enhancement strategies to enhance organizational sustainability.
- Developing internal controls and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all financial transactions.
- Working alongside external tax accountants to ensure all tax filing calculations and obligations are met..
- Revenue Cycle Management
- Supervising and managing Revenue Cycle Manager and Revenue Cycle Specialist to ensure all activities and processes are directed to optimize health insurance revenues and recovery rates, in accordance with overall corporate objectives
- Building reporting and processes to monitor billing, collections, and reimbursement, identifying opportunities for improvement and working closely with operational teams to optimize processes while minimizing administrative burden.
- Managing external billing company activities and relationships to ensure smooth operation of the revenue cycle function and effective billing outcomes.
- Collaborating with external billing company to manage payor contracts and ensure all appropriate credentialling is obtained and maintained.
- Healthcare Knowledge & Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations impacting healthcare finance, including Medicare/Medicaid rules and commercial payer requirements.
- Monitoring reimbursement trends, and healthcare regulatory updates impacting financial performance.
- Maintaining knowledge of healthcare cost accounting, provider productivity metrics, and clinic-level financial management.
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Supervising and develop accounting/finance staff, fostering accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
- Partnering with clinical and administrative leaders to support data-driven decision-making.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to the executive team, offering insights on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.

You will be successful, if:
- You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- You have demonstrated a minimum of 7 years progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- You have healthcare industry experience required; multi-site or outpatient mental health preferred.
- You have experience with revenue cycle management, healthcare compliance, and payer reimbursement structures.
- You possess strong knowledge of revenue collections and insurance payor management
- You demonstrate understanding of GAAP and healthcare accounting principles.
- You arre proficient in financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks,), with strong Excel skills.
- You are proficient in EHR reporting systems (e.g., Tebra).
- You possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- You are an analytical thinker with problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- You demonstrate the ability to thrive in a growing, mission-driven organization with a collaborative culture.
